The Gate Vegetarian Restaurant Review
27 years young, The Gate’s still got it.
When Adrian and Michael Daniel founded The Gate in Hammersmith, I was just a screaming 1 year old, probably not eating solid food yet. The second I did, you can bet meat was on the menu. Who knew then I’d end up starting a veggie website. I really admire the bravery of this culinary pair. Starting a vegetarian restaurant in the 80s, people must have called them crazy but the quality of their food shone through and now The Gate is a London institution with two sites in Hammersmith and Islington with a brand new restaurant in Marylebone coming in December.

Veggie Pros
- The whole menu is vegetarian with loads of vegan options too.
- The menu is constantly changing, using the very best seasonal produce.
- The food is of fine-dining quality, at reasonable prices in a chilled, romantic setting.
Veggie Cons
- I’m at a loss here. If you’re veggie, you need to go to the Gate. Simple as.

Veggie LAD Verdict
The Gate is an awesome restaurant by any standard. For vegetarians, it’s a must visit and a great place to take your veggie-sceptic mates. I’ll be back again and again, and you should be too!
